Identity verification from a photo the customer texted from their couch.

MakoID reads the barcode on the back of a licence — the same thing a police scanner reads — and cross-checks it against everything visible on the front.

PDF report

produced for the deal jacket

What it checks

Then it returns a plain verdict — verified, needs review, or failed — with a score and the reasons behind it, and draws a PDF you can keep in the file.

  • Decodes the barcode on the back of the licence, which is the authoritative record.
  • Reads the front of the card and cross-checks it against the barcode.
  • Checks the expiry date.
  • Checks that the age is plausible.
  • For Ontario licences, checks the date of birth encoded in the licence number itself.

The rule that makes it worth trusting

If it cannot read the barcode, it can never return a pass. The best it can do is tell you to look at it yourself.

A blurry photo of a front cannot talk its way into an approval. Front-only is a review, never a pass.

You are catching bad ID before it is in your deal jacket, in under a minute, from a photo the customer sent from their couch — and you are doing it on every single deal.

The things dealers ask first.

Can a customer fool it with a photo of the front only?
No. Without a readable barcode the highest possible outcome is a caution requiring human review. A pass is impossible.
Do I get something for the deal jacket?
Yes — a PDF report with the verdict, the score, and the specific reasons behind it.
Does someone have to start the check?
No. If the texted photo is a driver licence, verification fires automatically as part of document handling.
